The Sheepdog trials took place on 24th August. I was pleased to attend and wrote a short article for the Tavistock Times newspaper. They published part of the article in order to fit their space constraints. Here is the article in its entirety.
A Grand Day Out
There was welly-wanging, antique tractors and many stalls. The tea tent was doing a roaring business. Home-baked cakes were the culprit. Sourced from local farmhouse kitchens, they were out of this world.
Dartmoor Ice-cream, a brand-new start-up, launched their mobile service today. Co-founder, Carole Bache, explained that everything is local and natural. Their milk and cream comes from one Dartmoor farm where the cows are “free-range”. Even the sauces and flavours are hand-made in Tavistock. The ice-cream is “to die for”.
Mr Bob Wilson, regular attendee, said “it’s one of my favourite trials of the season. Local farmers, village feel and nice weather.” Committee member Ken said, “All it takes is a bit of enthusiasm and enough people to come along and help.”
South Devon life at its very best!
